History of Professionalism
Dr. Brandy Charles joined Hearing Professionals in 2017 when she became the lead audiologist overseeing clinical operations at the Laurel, MD location. Dr. Charles previously taught an Aural Rehabilitation class, as well as supervised speech-language pathology students on various clinical aspects of audiology at Loyola University Maryland. She has also previously worked as an audiologist in private practice in conjunction with Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physicians, been an active participant of the Cleft Lip and Palate Team at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Institute, as well as serving as the Audiology Supervisor for the Center for Prevention and Rehabilitation of Brain Injury at Loyola University Maryland.
Education is Key
Dr. Charles received her Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004, Master’s of Arts (MA) in 2007, and her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) in 2008. She spent her externship year at the Veteran’s Administration in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Charles is a licensed audiologist in the state of Maryland. She currently holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA).
The Ultimate Goal
Dr. Charles’s goal is to provide exceptional comprehensive audiologic and vestibular care to patients while meeting the patient’s personal goals. Through continuing education she strives to maintain the most current hearing and balance processes for her patients. Her areas of expertise include audiological rehabilitation via counseling and hearing aid evaluations and fittings, and vestibular evaluations.

Dr. Charles is dedicated to helping patients communicate more effectively, whether providing the most appropriate hearing aid technology or using effective counseling strategies to ensure patients are optimizing their environment for better hearing. Dr. Charles currently resides in Laurel, MD with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She enjoys gardening, community service, traveling, and exploring recreational activities outdoors with her family.
