History of Professionalism

Dr. Gina Diaz joined the Hearing Professionals family in 2013 when she became the lead audiologist overseeing clinical operations at the California, MD location. Dr. Diaz has gained extensive clinical experience at a wide variety of clinical settings including Boys Town National Research Hospital (Omaha, NE) and Ear Nose and Throat Associates (Baltimore, MD). Audiologic service provision to the general and special needs populations (adult and pediatric) included comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, electrophysiologic assessments, hearing aid fittings and management, cochlear implant mapping, newborn hearing screenings, and vestibular diagnostic testing. Dr. Diaz has also been an active participant of the Cleft Lip and Palate Team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she provided full audiologic assessments for both children and adults with congenital malformations/multiple disabilities.

Education is Key

Dr. Diaz completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Science from West Virginia University in 2009. She continued her studies in audiology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received her Master of Science degree in 2012 and her Doctor of Audiology degree in 2013. Dr. Diaz has published and conducted research studies in the cochlear implant lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital, the effect of technology and testing environment on speech perception using telehealth with cochlear implant recipients. In addition, she completed a retrospective analysis on speech-perception outcomes for children and adolescents receiving sequential bilateral cochlear implants with at least 4 years between surgeries. Dr. Diaz currently holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), is a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) and is a licensed audiologist in the state of Maryland.

Dr. Diaz’s goal is to provide expert care and compassion to all patients and their families with the use of state-of-the-art equipment and continuing education. Dr. Diaz is passionate about audiology and the difference better hearing can make in the quality of a person’s life. She strives to provide in-depth evaluations to diagnose and treat hearing loss and balance disorders.

Dr. Diaz has a diverse background and provides expertise in the areas of pediatric and adult behavioral and electro-acoustic diagnostic testing including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing, Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE), and Videonystagmography (VNG). She is dedicated to helping families make informed decisions and advocate for their children regarding their hearing health. In addition, she incorporates early detection and management, preservation of hearing, and education for all patients and family members. Lastly, Dr. Diaz is committed to providing the most appropriate hearing aid technology to help people communicate effectively in their everyday activities and listening situations. Dr. Diaz grew up in Long Island, NY and currently resides in California, MD with her husband. She enjoys traveling, community service, and spending quality time with friends and family.
