History of Professionalism

Dr. Steven Kulsar is a licensed Audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in the states of New York and Maryland. He joined Hearing Professionals in early 2015, and comes from an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Audiology private practice. Dr. Kulsar performs an array of comprehensive diagnostic audiological and vestibular assessments for patients across the lifespan as well as provides consultations regarding aural rehabilitation options including dispensing state-of-the-art digital hearing aid technology. Outside of the office, Dr. Kulsar has been an American Sign Language interpreter for the past several years. During that time he has gained extensive experience in a myriad of settings while subcontracting with a company in New York State and providing his services through different agencies in Virginia.

Education is Key

Dr. Kulsar completed his undergraduate degree cum laude with distinction in Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University (JMU) in Virginia in 2008. He continued at JMU to earn his Doctor of Audiology degree in 2012, defending a dissertation exploring sign language development in infants of deaf parents. This research is ongoing and housed jointly at JMU and Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. He spent his fellowship year at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York before joining an ENT and Audiology private practice in central New York in 2012. Dr. Kulsar holds his Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). He also has more than 8 years of experience interpreting, researching, and teaching American Sign Language in a variety of settings.

Dr. Kulsar strives to provide optimal, individualized, comprehensive audiologic care to patients with hearing and balance needs. Through education, counseling, and rehabilitation, he assures that expectations are mutually met and that patients receive continued quality care. He encourages patients to seek answers to their questions to expedite meeting the needs of each individual.

Dr. Kulsar realizes that hearing loss is not a one-size-fits-all model and works with each patient to maximize his or her abilities.

He currently resides in Alexandria, Va., but enjoys extensive domestic and international travel when not in the office and loves to hear about the travels of his patients.
