My children were always after me, ‘Mom, put your hearing aids in’ and my answer was ‘WHY?’ Answer was you paid too much for them to just leave them in the box.     “In February of 2012, I was fitted with a pair of Widex hearing aids and an M-Dex remote control. This was the first pair I ever had and I was afraid they would be uncomfortable, a nuisance, and hard to get used to. I was wrong. They have been comfortable to the point of not even knowing they were there. The few times they required a small adjustment, Hearing Professionals has been really helpful with just the right little part or fine tuning with their electronic tolls and knowledgeable skills. Each time the fix was precisely what was needed, and there was never loss of service, and never a long wait. I particularly enjoy the M-Dex control. It works very well with both phones with a simple connection change. The audio is clear and fully adjustable whether I wear it under a shirt or under my tie at work. One of the most useful features is the ‘focus Front’ (left, right, or rear). When I need to focus in on one person I’m talking with, that feature makes intelligible conversation possible. And the mute feature is fantastic when talking on the phone with BlueTooth and the surrounding sounds are obliterated.     “Several years ago I had a combination of medical problems which included balance issues and the sense that I was losing my hearing. I visited the medical practice of an ENT that included an audiologist and could provide balance testing as well. Balance problems were not being caused by my ears, but the testing showed some loss of hearing. Meanwhile, I was actually getting resistance from my family regarding purchasing aids. Some thought others mumbling was the real problem. A fashion conscious daughter thought hearing aids would be ugly. I visited a hearing aid business next. I found it scary, and answers to my questions seemed confusing and incomplete. We do have health insurance that pays a set amount for hearing aids. By then I had decided I would not spend one penny more than that. Meanwhile, both of our adult children developed serious medical issues of their own. Clear communication within the family and among medical practitioners became literally a matter of life and death. Fortunately, I learned of Hearing Professionals. My initial contact was with Stacey Samuels-Cole. She is one of the kindest, most patient, and talented health professionals that I have ever worked with. I’m sure my fears came across as sullen and uncooperative. But she is a fabulous teacher as well and instilled confidence in the product and that I could handle them literally and financially. I did not feel comfortable overnight. I lost parts while cleaning the domes incorrectly, and I actually dropped one of the aids in water. Through it all the staff has been calm, helpful, and supportive of my efforts. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Nelson and remarked that my regained ability to hear and understand treatment options regarding my children has been invaluable to our entire extended family and friends. I can say without qualification that I trust Hearing Professionals to always help replace my natural hearing with aids that are solely in my best interest.     “I have worn hearing aids for the past 29 years. My hearing has progressively gotten worse over the years. This is my 4th set of hearing aids. And, wow what a difference! I feel like I have ‘normal hearing’ again! Riding all the way to Annapolis, I could hear my grandchildren talking to me in the back seat without having to look at them. Finally, I am able to converse in the car without getting car sick from turning my head to hear. I think my best friend likes the aids the most because I no longer say ‘Huh?’ She noted this difference right away. Three very soft-spoken ladies from church were now audible, whereas before I had not a clue…You know, the pleasant nod. Value received is dependent on how well you enjoy the relationship as you learn to improve your hearing. It even goes beyond the Doctor; the Patient Care Coordinator, Renee, has been so efficient to facilitate the insurance paperwork and coordinating benefits and visits for my care. They have gone above and beyond in customer service. There was a problem with the shipping and delivery of my mother’s hearing aid. They stayed on top of the shipping company to ensure delivery. I was kept informed every step of the way, even by cell phone and well after business hours. I last spoke to Dr. Cole at 9 PM when she gave a follow-up call to me to let me know everything had arrived and she would be meeting me at my mother’s assisted living facility first thing in the morning. The next morning again we were amazed. Dr. Cole treated my mother with the utmost respect. She did not rush things along and made sure my mother was comfortable and pleased with the hearing aids.
