“I had withdrawn from my friends, declining invitations. I was very sad and alone.”

“In 1999, I took a flight to Chicago. During the landing, I suffered extreme pain in my right ear. After this trip, I saw an ENT doctor and he said I had suffered nerve damage. Well, I went on with my life slowly losing my hearing. By the spring of 2011, I found myself alone in my bedroom watching TV because I had to turn it up so loud. I also realized I had withdrawn from my friends, declining invitations. I was very sad and alone.

One day, I read an article in AARP magazine about how hearing impaired people suffer early dementia and are more prone to Alzheimer’s disease. My father died from Alzheimer’s in 2006 and he was deaf. I went to Google immediately searching for information…I was directed to Hearing Professionals and learned about their services. I made an appointment!

In July 2011, I was fitted with hearing aids after finding out I had a severe hearing loss and understanding loss. I was also seen by an ENT who highly recommended Bethany Wiseman, AuD. Doctor Wiseman helped me get used to the fittings and I was amazed at how my life had changed. I now have to keep a calendar in my purse for all of the activities I’m now enjoying. The expense of the Hearing Aids was partially covered by insurance and I have used Care Credit to help me pay the balance. I want to thank Doctor Wiseman and the staff at Hearing Professionals for giving me my life back.”
